Course details
There are three core pillars to the taught part of the course: the theory and practice of strategic HRM; the principles of statistics and data analytics; the application of data analytics to HR problems. You'll study these three core areas, as well as being able to choose from several optional modules to suit your interests.
In strategic HRM, you'll think about how organisational strategy and context shape might be considered ‘good HR’ in functional areas such as workforce planning, recruitment and selection, training and development and pay and performance management.
In data and statistics for human resources, you'll study how these principles can be applied in HR. The teaching approach is practical, and we focus on teaching you to understand and apply data science and statistics to solve problems in an organisational context.
In HR Analytics: Strategy and Practice, you'll bring together the knowledge you've gained to think about how analytics can be applied to identify and address specific HR problems faced by organisations.
Professional Development and CIPD Membership
During you time at Leeds you'll also attend professional skill workshops as part of your regular timetable. These practical sessions are taught by business professionals and allow you to gain skills and insight to help you to cope effectively with the challenges of the world of work upon graduation.
You can choose to enhance your studies by opting to gain Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) membership alongside your degree. If you choose to gain Associate CIPD membership the requirements for CIPD qualification will be explained in detail during your Induction programme.
