Put some of the biggest business voices on the global map as you prepare for a career in creativity, storytelling and strategy.

Marketing is all about telling stories to attract your audience’s attention. From social media and emails to websites and billboards, selling a product or a service to drive sales is marketing, and it’s all around us!

On this course, you'll become a confident, international marketer, learning what marketing strategy is and how to use it, and the role of communications and operations in different countries, cultures and industries. Plus, you'll be based in Leeds, a city that’s right at the heart of global marketing action.

After you graduate, there’s a whole world out there. You could work in global marketing, marketing research, advertising, or public relations. Some of our graduates have gone on to work at major global companies such as The Wall Street Journal, Harley Davidson, and Deloitte.

Course details and modules

Core modules will develop your understanding of marketing theory and practice with a global focus.

You’ll learn how organisations use marketing research to understand their market, while gaining an awareness of consumer behaviour across cultures.

You’ll explore how this information is turned into practical marketing strategies, with modules focusing on marketing communications, and the challenges of the global marketing environment.

You’ll further develop your knowledge by focusing on international services marketing, considering practical solutions to the problems of global distribution and supply chains. Optional modules enable you to explore specific areas that suit your interests or career plans.

The course culminates in a final dissertation, allowing you to demonstrate the knowledge and skills you’ve gained through detailed analysis of a specific topic.

You’ll have the option to complete a standard research dissertation on an academic topic of your choice, or a practice-based dissertation, allowing you to work on a real-world marketing problem.

Learning and teaching

You’ll be taught using a range of methods including lectures, tutorials, seminars and workshops. The rest of your time will be spent in independent learning, which allows you to develop your skills in research and analysis.

Our Virtual Learning Environment will help to support your studies: it’s a central place where you can find all the information and resources for the school, your programme and modules.

On this course, you’ll be taught by our expert academics, from lecturers through to professors. You may also be taught by industry professionals with years of experience, as well as trained postgraduate researchers, connecting you to some of the brightest minds on campus.

Assessment

Assessment methods emphasise not just knowledge, but essential skills development too. This may include formal exams, group projects, reports, computer simulation exercises, essays and written assignments, group and individual presentations and reflective logs.

Entry requirements

A bachelor degree with a 2:1 (hons) in any subject. This course is primarily aimed at students with a general business or non-business background; however, we do not restrict entry for those who have previously studied marketing.

International qualifications

We accept a range of international equivalent qualifications.

English language requirements

IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in any component. For other English qualifications, read English language equivalent qualifications.

Improve your English

International students who do not meet the English language requirements for this programme may be able to study our postgraduate pre-sessional English course, to help improve your English language level.
